The National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, I.P., is a public organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Justice. It is a State Laboratory and an institution of national reference in legal medicine and forensic sciences. The INMLCF has its head office in Coimbra, 3 Delegations (Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon) and a network of several offices throughout the national territory. The INMLCFs main assignments are: to ensure medicolegal and forensic expertise to enhance the administration of justice; coordinate and monitor forensic medicine and forensic science activities; grant specialized professional qualification in forensic medicine and promote training and research in forensic sciences.
