A Casa de Pomares: reconciliação do novo com o original

Bibliographic Details
Summary:This work is developed around a pre-existing element, with the main goal of transforming the old rural building into a house for temporary accomodations. It is a house well known by the author, situated in Pomares, in Guarda, which state of conservation and functional organization doesn't match with the intended use. The study is divided in three fronts. The first one - Pomares - gathers information about the village where the house is sited, and searches for patterns that can be found in our study object, while deepening the socioeconomic dynamics that culminated in the actual village. On the second one - Narrativa Cronológica - the main subject is the pre-existing house. This front attempts to gather all the existing information about the old building and his main constructive and spacial features, which will help us understand the evolution of the house through time, clarifying its different phases and finding out how did it become the actual building. Reconciliação do novo com o original is the last chapter, where we built a final approach to the required project: the contact with the client, the problems found in the pre-existing element and some architectural references are crossed in the process of searching for the ultimate solution. Finally, the endorsed solutions are described and justified, and the project is presented through objective representations in different scales, testing the adressed subjects discussed throughout the journey.
