Estudos culturais: o quê e o como da investigação

Resumo:	The present study stands on Cultural Studies research field. It aims to review its major theoretical and epistemological principles and also the scientific research that, since XXth century (60s decade), has been conducted on different countries around the world. In the first part of this paper, we present a cluster of common traits on Cultural Studies research field, but also their divergences and main discussions. A brief history of the origins and development of Cultural Studies is also provided, while trying to reflect about the disciplinary and academic status of this field of knowledge. On the final part we synthesize the main lines of the present Cultural Studies field of research and its methodologies.
