Summary:The architectural space is perceived differently by each individual. For autistic people, the built environment can seem a frightening and confusing place, due to the cognitive, social and communicative deficiencies caused by the syndrome. For the architect, it is necessary to be aware of the design challenges for the development of an inclusive architecture for autistic people, to develop solutions that meet the needs of these people. Therefore, this dissertation aims to understand the struggles experienced by people with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the school space for the elaboration of an intervention proposal at the Gomes Teixeira Middle School.
