Description
Sinais de Cena Revista de Estudos de Teatro e Artes Performativas publishes new research on the Performing Arts and Theatre Studies. An annual journal, specialised in theatre and performing arts studies, it is produced by the Centre for Theatre Studies (CET) of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FLUL), in collaboration with the Portuguese Association of Theatre Critics (APCT). Sinais de Cena was founded in 2004 by Carlos Porto, Luiz Francisco Rebello, Paulo Eduardo Carvalho and Maria Helena Serôdio, who edited it until 2014, with an issue coming out each semester (in June and December) during these first ten years. It was initially published by Campo das Letras (up until issue 10 in December 2008). Húmus then took over publication for issues 11 (June 2009) to 22 (December 2014), with series II beginning in June 2016 and published by Orfeu Negro. The sections dedicated to essay production (“Thematic Dossier” and “Applied Studies”) are peer reviewed. In these sections, articles can be published in Portuguese, English, French, Spanish and Italian. Each essay must have a title, an abstract, five keywords in two languages, as well as an author’s biographical note. The quality control of submitted manuscripts is carried out by an editor, an editorial committee and at least one blind peer-reviewed opinion. The remaining permanent sections – “Portfolio”, “First Person (Interview)”, “Passos em Volta” (Performance Analysis) and “Readings” (reviews of theatre works and works on theatre) – provide documentation, debate, analysis and evaluation of what has been done in the field of theatre – and other performing arts – in its multiple creative aspects, both in Portugal (its primary focus) and around the world. In each issue, these sections are coordinated by two members of the Editorial Board and are not subject to peer review. The journal is indexed on the following platforms: Scientific Open Access Repository of Portugal (RCAAP - https://www.rcaap.pt/) and SHERPA/RoMEO https://v2.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/).
