CRIA

The Centre for Research in Anthropology (CRIA) is the main research centre in anthropology in Portugal, occupying a privileged place among Portuguese institutions in the area of social sciences. It constitutes a dynamic network based on four universities (Iscte, NOVA FCSH, UCoimbra and UMinho), which shares the fundamental resources necessary to the management, fundraising, research dissemination, teaching and knowledge transfer. CRIA contributes to the knowledge of contemporary cultural and social dynamics, developing research in Portugal and in a diversity of geographical contexts. It promotes comparative and transversal reflection at different spatial and historical scales. Interdisciplinarity and the development of disciplinary sub-areas support and complement CRIA's unique approach.
