| Resumo: | The present report is part of the pre-service training practices of the Master in Preschool and Primary Education. The research aims to prove the importance of using games in mathematics learning, as a tool that motivates and involves the child or student on mathematical activities. Mathematics is a subject in which students construct a negative social representation, having an impact on their performances. Thus, it becomes important to find a way to stimulate the students and motivate them in learning mathematics. In this sense, the use of games in the classroom allows students get involve in mathematics activities, giving a meaning to mathematical learning. It also allows developing the (mathematical) abilities and competencies that are essential a future citizen. In this investigation, we assumed an interpretative paradigm and an action research design. The participants was a group of children from preschool, 1st graders and the teacher/researcher. The data were collecting through the observation, informal conversations, teacher/researcher’s diary and documents. The results shows that the use of games in classroom as learning tool, allows a greater involvement of children and students in mathematical activities, contributing to students give meaning to the mathematical knowledge. |
