Jeux et enjeux de la rencontre dans Confidences à Allah et Mon Père est Femme de Ménage

Bibliographic Details
Summary:Our aim is to propose a reading of two novels by Saphia Azzeddine, a young French-Moroccan writer. Being a daughter of an immigrant, does her writing reflect her belonging to both identities? To answer this question, theme, linguistic, and anthropological approaches have been deployed. Her first novel Confidences à Allah (Confessions to Allah) and her second novel Mon Père est Femme de Ménage (My Father is a Maid) have been well received by French and European medias, but no academic study has been carried out about them. The two novels lie in the context of in-between (the two cultures), which asks for a comparative approach. The article is sub-divided in two axes : the particular use of French, the aspects of communication between two cultures and their impact on the quality of the relationships between the characters.
