Perenidade e Construção Operativa. Habitar/Modelar Salvador do Monte
| Summary: | This is the dissection of a project in its theoretical and practical form. The project utilizes modular technology to construct houses in the parish of Salvador do Monte in Amarante. The ambition is to combine the technology of prefabrication with the themes of permanence, phenomenology, and place. The project has a theoretical-practical nature and is composed of "momentums" or chapters that simultaneously organize theoretical research, project processes, and project elements around certain themes. The work consists of three chapters/momentums. The first investigates the role of structure, architectural operability, and prefabrication as a technological response. The second revolves around the themes of phenomenology and place. The third focuses on domesticity, and memory as well as subjectivity in the project process. In the momentums, the different theoretical investigations are always corroborated by project elements, and vice versa. The three chapters can be understood as individual projects but assume a logic of interdependence and construction of the whole. Additionally, an epilogue and an annex are introduced. The epilogue to clarify passive ideas that guided the project, and the annex to illustrate unseen project process elements. The project of four modular houses serves as an absorptive vehicle for theoretical narratives, experimental intuitions, and the culmination of academic learning. Through this exercise of absorption and edification, a cycle of studies ends and the method of learning continues. |
