Vulnerabilidades de Alfama face ao risco sísmico

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:The quality of urban buildings is a key component regarding the way theese structures behave during the occurrence of an earthquake. The old urban centers, due to its structural and social characteristics, have increased vulnerabilities when compared to more recent urban areas. The analysis of the resilience of 120 buildings located in Alfama in Lisbon, in case of seismic action, shows that 70 of these structures require preventive interventions. Estimates of costs arising from the collapse of buildings and debris removal will be presented. The characteristics of road and pedestrian pathways associated with the building's resistance capacity show high vulnerability. This complicates rescue efforts after an earthquake with massive destructive characteristics. The analysis shows that, in this type of network, about 58 % may become impervious after an earthquake. Emergency corridors and sites for coordination of relief operations are suggested. These structural features associated with the social vulnerabilities of the population, are of great concern. In that order, we will seek to demonstrate the type and degree of objective weakness that the community under study is subjected. We also present mitigation measures to safeguard the human population and the architectural heritage from a scenario similar to the one that occurred on November 1, 1755.
