Vídeos em contextos universitários de ensino-aprendizagem
| Resumo: | The propagation of mobile devices and large internet access among college students has amplified the use of media in general and, in particular, of videos in an educational context. This research identified: a) Several purposes and pedagogical strategies for the use of video; b) Places and contexts in which they are used: c) The students' perception; d) The impact of video on their performance. This dissertation presents an investigation on the use of video in two propaedeutic units in the Physics curriculum at the Engineer Faculty of the University of Porto. The main objectives are: a) To characterize the pedagogical context underlying the use of videos; b) To characterize students' perception of this media; c) And characterize their impact on the student's academic performance. 'The data were collected using a Moodle platform combined with an anonymization mechanism. The sample of students and videos are statistically characterized. It was applied a questionnaire, composed of twelve questions, and used a 7-points Likert scale to understand the student's perception. Correlations between questions were measured with standard statistical coefficients. Also, academic performance related with videos were measured using the same coefficients. The study shows that students value the videos as a teaching and learning tool, but it doesn't replace other teaching methods and learning activities. The research is inconclusive about the impact of video on students' school performance and this point will be discussed in detail in the dissertation. |
