| Summary: | Nowadays, the “evaluation concept” is something that we can’t ignore, being present on a rooted way in what concerns on the education area. The evaluation has suffered changes over the years and is constantly evolving. This study had the target of understanding and analysing the representations of a group of teachers about the Finals of Portuguese and Mathematics on the 4th grade. In particular it was searched to understanding how the existence of Finals of Portuguese and Mathematics on the 4th grade has effects over the didactic and the evaluation practices and strategies used by 1st Cycle teachers. To this end there were defined three research questions: 1) In what manner the 4th grade Finals influence the teaching and evaluation practices of the teachers of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education?; 2) What is the representation of the many educational players about the Finals of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education? 3) What is the impact of the results obtained on 4th grade Finals on the teaching-learning processes? To answer these questions, it was chosen to adopting a methodology of qualitative nature and interpretative character using as main way of data collection the interview technique. By this way there were realized four interviews to teachers of a school from the particular and cooperative network, who taught at the 4th grade on the present school year or on the year before. This study allowed writing some conclusions. The four interviewed teachers told that their practices are influenced in some way by the finals and they don’t agree with the form how these are structured. They consider that this is an evaluation element that exercises unnecessary pressure to the students since young age. However, parents face the external evaluation as the most important in the evaluation on the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. |
