Pour une définition de l’exil d’après Milan Kundera

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:The article intends to present an approach to Milan Kundera, an author who leaves Prague and takes refuge in France in 1975. Stolen of his Czech nationality, he obtains the French nationality in 1981 and begins to write in French from 1995. He becomes one of the most renown writers who have migrated in our time and develops, in his work, his vision of the exile. Our aim is to unravel this vision, this notion of exile, memory, emigration as "one of the strangest phenomena of the second half of the 20th century" (Kundera 2003: 22), as Kundera points out in L’ Ignorance. We will start with writings such as L’Insoutenable légèreté de l’être, La vie est ailleurs, Les testaments trahis, Une Rencontre, L’Ignorance in order to develop the theme while emphasizing the importance of culture, which redeems the horror of his days of exile, « by transubstantiating it into existential wisdom » (Kundera, 1993: 273).
